A leisurely neighborhood filled with stores that are truly hidden gems
Yeonnam-dong and Yeonhui-dong have long been known for their gourmet food establishments.
The streets of these two neighborhoods are lined with Chinese restaurants and restaurants frequented by bus
or cab drivers with some of the most delicious food in Seoul.
Over the past few years, new stores and shops have begun sprouting up, and change is in the air.
Walk out of Exit 3 of Hongik University Station and unfolding before you will be Yeonnam-dong’s Gyeongui Line
Forest Path, now playfully called “Yeon-tral Park.” Recently, restaurants and pubs have opened up around the park,
and studios of highly skilled artists and select shops for the most fashionable among us have settled
in along the streets as well. Here, rather than upscale establishments, you will find shops with unique tastes and characteristics.
Owing to the simple and honest atmosphere of the past that lingers here, the mood of this place
is always relaxed and pleasant—and therein lies the true charm of Yeonnam-dong and Yeonhui-dong.
